David E. Dykhouse, DDS
Dr. David Dykhouse completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Missouri – Columbia with a degree in Chemical Engineering – earning Magna Cum Laude honors. In 1997, Dr. David obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). Dr. David received the Dean’s Academic Distinction Award for being the #1 ranked UMKC dental student in his graduating class.
Dr. David earned his certification in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at UMKC in 1999 and joined his father’s orthodontic practice.
Dr. David became Board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2007. He completed a thorough written and oral examination and demonstrated his clinical expertise by showing completed orthodontic cases finished in his office to the American Board examiners. To stay current with dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. David is a member of many societies including the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontics, Tweed Study Club of the Midwest and the Eastern Jackson County Dental Health Group.
As a way of giving back to the community, Dr. David is an orthodontic provider for Smiles Change Lives and Dental for Kids programs. Dr. David and his wife have three children. He enjoys playing basketball and golf, and spending time with family and friends while away from the office.
Vance J. Dykhouse, DDS, MS
Dr. Vance J. Dykhouse completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UMKC in 1966 after doing his undergraduate work at the University of Oklahoma. After two years in the Navy, Dr. Vance began his orthodontic residency at UMKC and completed his Master’s degree in orthodontics in 1970. He has been practicing orthodontics in Eastern Jackson County since 1970 and became Board certified in 1978.
In 1999, Dr. Vance was selected by his peers to an eight-year term as the Midwest Director to the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Vance was President of the American Board of Orthodontics from May 2006 to May 2007.
In addition to running his orthodontic practice, Dr. Vance has been a part-time faculty member teaching in the orthodontic department at the UMKC School of Dentistry for over 20 years. He also is a member of numerous local and national dental and orthodontic societies including the Charles H. Tweed Foundation and the Edward H. Angle Society.
Dr. Vance and his wife have two children and six grandchildren. He is a big sports fan and especially enjoys watching his grandchildren participate in different sports.
